Restoring Affordability and Opportunity
We are at an inflection point. In one of the least affordable places in the country, housing is no longer just a housing issue—it is an economic imperative. California cannot lead if the teachers, nurses, firefighters, young people, and working families who power our communities can no longer afford to live here.
Michael will champion a new approach that dramatically expands housing supply at every level, with a focus on the missing middle—townhomes, infill, workforce housing, and attainable homeownership. He’ll fight to accelerate permitting, lower the cost of building, embrace innovative construction, and reward jurisdictions that deliver real housing results with greater infrastructure and funding incentives.
Combined with insurance reform, workforce development, and more good-paying jobs, Michael’s goal is clear: make it possible for the next generation to build a life and a future in California.
Preparing California for the Future
Climate change is already here. Michael’s priority is to prepare California for what comes next—not simply react to each crisis. He’ll support a California Resilient Workforce that creates good-paying jobs in wildfire prevention, home hardening, vegetation management, water infrastructure, and community resilience.
At the same time, California must continue leading the world in innovation—from clean energy and artificial intelligence to advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, and agriculture. That means making it easier and faster to build the energy, water, transportation, broadband, and grid infrastructure our future requires.
As AI and data centers expand, Michael will push for responsible growth that protects our water and energy resources and ensures communities share in the economic benefits. Technology should work for people—not the other way around.
Preparing for California’s future also means protecting the people who are helping build it. Michael will defend the civil rights and due process of immigrant communities, keep families together, and ensure every Californian has the opportunity to contribute and succeed.
Immigrant communities are not on the margins of California’s future—they are central to it. They are our neighbors, workers, small business owners, students, caregivers, and families, and Michael will be a strong champion for their safety, dignity, and opportunity.
He will defend due process and civil rights, oppose indiscriminate immigration enforcement that tears families and communities apart, and fight to ensure every child and family can access education, healthcare, and economic opportunity without living in fear. He’ll also support pathways that allow immigrants to work, build businesses, and fully contribute to the communities they call home.
California’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths. Our future depends on ensuring every family has the freedom and opportunity to build a better life here.
Building a Government That Delivers Results
Californians deserve a government that measures success by outcomes—not by the number of bills passed or headlines generated. Throughout Michael's career, he has focused on modernizing government, strengthening transparency, and helping public institutions become more accountable and responsive.
In the Legislature, he will work to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, improve government accountability, strengthen public trust, and ensure legislation is practical for local governments to implement. Having served as staff in the State Legislature and municipal government, he understands that the best policies are developed with the people responsible for carrying them out. Michael will regularly seek input from local governments, public employees, subject-matter experts, community organizations, and those directly affected before making decisions. Ventura County shouldn’t just live with decisions made in Sacramento—we should help shape them.
